I started madchilli to combine my love of the internet, food and photography. Born in Malaysia, I’m now living in Perth, Western Australia with my partner after years in Melbourne. Brought up in a Chinese family, I was surrounded by a culture of food that has stayed with me in my adult life. I enjoy cooking and entertaining and most of all, eating. I’m willing to try most things once! And I love trying out new and interesting ingredients. My close friends will tell you what a sweet tooth I have and my quirk of turning first to the dessert page on menus before looking at the rest.

My other passion is photography and I’ve combined this with food since I discovered flickr. This blog will be about cooking, recipes, my experiences with food and maybe at times, just something which happened that I’d like to share.

Your feedback and comments are always appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Steven

Update 6 Feb 2006: Well, I’ve taken things to the next level and enrolled in college to study commercial cookery and obtain the trade certificate. The whole process takes one year in total but I’ve only enrolled for the first half of the course, pending some uncertainty about where my partner and I will be living. It comes as a bit of a shock going back to school but the learning experience will be great. The other shock is a drop in my income as I am now only working part-time. Yikes! Thankfully I’ve found work in a great little bistro restaurant which serves modern European food. Well, I’ll just have to live within my means.
